Meet your instructor: Simone Gruenig

Over the last eighteen years, her clinical focus has varied from critical/acute care, chronic pain/palliative care, community care and pelvic floor therapy. Since 2007 she has been working part-time for Vancouver Coastal Health and since 2015 she has been working with an outreach community health team, servicing the diverse needs of the downtown east side of Vancouver. Also, since 2007, she has held a part-time instructor position in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia primarily instructing clinical cardiorespiratory therapy, physiology and complex patient populations. Her post-graduate teaching has focused on the evidence-based standards with the cardiorespiratory patient population, the use of outcome measures in acute care and how to build and foster your clinical reasoning skills. She received an award of excellence in teaching in 2015.

She is part of numerous committees within her profession, including, but not limited to the Cardiorespiratory Division, of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, The International Cardiorespiratory Committee, of the World Physiotherapy Association, the Public Practice Advisory Committee of the Physical Therapy Association of British Columbia and the Initiatives for Indigenous Advocacy Committee, University of British Columbia.

Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy: Review of the Basics

Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy: Case Integration Into Practice

The Case Integration course is designed for physiotherapists seeking to enhance their clinical reasoning and decision-making skills in the field of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. The course focuses on the integration of theoretical knowledge into practical case-based scenarios, in order to deepen participants’ understanding of complex cardiorespiratory scenarios. The delivery method is through interactive and collaborative case-based discussions, and review of the literature, where appropriate.
