Awards & Recognition

PPAC’s Public Practice Physio in Focus Award

PABC members in public practice, including acute care, rehabilitation, community, long-term care and school-age care delivery, work continually to improve the health of British Columbians.

The Public Practice Advisory Committee wants to recognize these individuals and increase the awareness and importance of these diverse areas of physiotherapy practice within the public health care system.

PABC Annual Awards of Excellence

PABC believes that members who make outstanding contributions to the profession should be recognized and honoured by their professional association and their peers.

The PABC Annual Awards of Excellence provides a way for physiotherapists who are leading the way in clinical care, development of the profession, or research, to be acknowledged and acclaimed by their professional community.

Ruth Byman Memorial Award

Throughout her extensive physiotherapy career, Ruth was known for her dedication to her patients and her uncompromising passion to offer the best, most up-to-date treatment options. She was a proponent of patient participation in rehabilitation.

This award is a legacy to her relentless pursuit of knowledge, her professionalism, and her genuine desire for helping others. By recognizing annually the same thirst for knowledge and excellence in a PABC member, the spirit of Ruth Byman continues to inspire. This award was created from the estate of Ruth Byman who passed away in 2003 after a short battle with cancer.

Peter Huijbregts Memorial Award

This award is in memory of Peter Huijbregts, a Victoria Physiotherapist who was well known for his unwavering dedication to all aspects of his work.

This award is a legacy to Peter’s significant contribution to the physiotherapy profession both locally and internationally through his teaching and research. It recognizes the same passion for knowledge, education, and research as a PABC member. We would like to thank Clover Hills Rehabilitation for providing the funding to continue this award.

Carol Kennedy Award

Carol Kennedy has been a Physiotherapist and PABC Member for over 40 years.  Carol has been committed to excellence in her practice as evidenced by testimonials from her grateful clients.

Carol has been one of our profession’s generational leaders and this award has been created in honour of that. This award will acknowledge those that demonstrate passion in clinical treatment, instructing and mentorship.

PABC Student Awards
